Arrive at Balmaceda Airport no later than midday.
Reception by Gran Patagonia staff who will accompany you at all times. Begin the journey south on the Carretera Austral, crossing the Cerro Castillo National Park, where you might see Huemuls, our national deer, if lucky. Also, privileged views of the imposing Cerro Castillo peak.
After following a great segment of the Ibañez and Murta Rivers, arrive at Puerto Tranquilo town on General Carrera Lake, where lunch will be served in a local restaurant. Afterwards, drive a few kilometers to start paddling you kayak (2h30 app), or ride your private motor-boat (1h30app) to visit the Marble Chapels Sanctuary of Nature.
Depending on the condition of the lake, you may go in to several caves to touch the marble and feel how water and wind have molded it into its soft characteristic form. Back to the shore, continue your drive to the south along the great Baker River from its source. This river is the biggest by volume of any Chilean river. After a brief stop at the confluence of the Baker and Neff Rivers, you’ll reach the Patagonia National Park –Valle Chacabuco Lodge, where well-deserved dinner will be served. Overningt.
Breakfast. Participate of a informative talk about the Patagonia National Park to start the day , giving you all the information about the origin and uses of the park, and the trails options you can carry out there. Then, enjoy a short orientation walk to learn and visit the surrounding areas, followed by lunch. In the afternoon go for your selected activity (trail). Dinner and accommodation at the Lodge.
Breakfast. This day starts heading south to the picturesque little town of Tortel. This place has been declared as a Traditional Site because of its particular architecture and lifestyle. Here, streets are replaced by walkways made out of Cypress of Guaitecas wood. They criss-cross the whole cove, allowing the biodiversity of the zone to be preserved.
Together with the cold, rainy climate, untamed nature and hard lifestyle the day a day work has built the character and identity of the people. The hospitality and warmth of the inhabitants makes it an unforgettable destination – walking its unique traditional gangways. Lunch in a local restaurant in the town itself. In the afternoon, return to Valle Chacabuco Lodge, dinner and accommodation.
Breakfast. Morning free to enjoy Patagonia’s beauties. However, we recommend flying over the North Patagonian Ice Field, with its 4,200 square kilometers (1,640 square miles) of ice and Patagonia’s highest peak, Mount San Valentin, over 4,000 meters (13,900 feet) high. During the flight, you will observe the Exploradores, San Rafael, Leones, Soler and Colonia Glaciers, and see the whole length of General Carrera Lake, crossing from Chile to Argentina. After this over-flight of the Ice Fields, begin the return drive to Coyhaique. Box lunch en route. Dine is not included. Accommodation in Patagonia Dreams Hotel.
