At agreed time, your guide/instructor will pick you up ay your hotel to travel in vehicle to Cerro Castillo National Park, 100km (60miles) south of Coyhaique on paved roads. Once at the Park entrance you start the trek up to “The New Zealander Camp”, walking through primary and secondary forests of Lenga and Ñire.
This is a walk of about 3 hours (8km/5 miles), of medium/low difficulty with moderate slopes. The place is emplaced in the valley of the “Parada” stream, surrounded by some large-scale hills, “Cerro Palo”, “Cerro Chocolate”, “Punta Duff” and the impressive “Cerro Castillo”. Once at the top, ypu will have a well-deserved break for 45 minutes to enjoy a restorative snack. At agreed time you will start the trek down to leave this wonder of nature, walking back to the vehicle by the same path. Going down takes about 2 hours. Return drive to your hotel in Coyhaique.
